February at Woodlands
February was a very busy month at Woodlands Residential Home. The residents enjoyed a trip to Redfields Garden Centre for a mooch around and a lovely cuppa, then Wyvern Pub for a glass of wine and Redfields Garden Centre again for a mooch around and a cuppa.
Residents were active through many enjoyable activities daily. February marked the beginning of a new activity “Golf Putting”. Everyone involved had a great time and some even discovered a new-found talent!
We enjoyed Shrove Tuesday celebrations with residents tossing pancakes and the staff taking part in a pancake race around the lounges at Woodlands, tossing pancakes whilst hopping on one leg with a zimmer frame. The winner was Andras beating Amy by just .7 of a second. Andras also gave the residents a brilliant demonstration of how he slaved away in the kitchen that morning making about 50 pancakes for everyone to enjoy at lunch time.
The celebrations continued with St Valentine’s Day. We got some lovely photographs of the residents to make a wall display. The room diners were treated to a single red rose on their breakfast trays, whilst the other diners enjoyed bright Valentine’s décor on their tables. Members of the cooking club made heart shaped pizzas for the residents to enjoy as well as strawberry, marshmallow and brownie skewers for dessert.
