About our care

Woodlands and Hillbrow is truly a family concern.

The first home, Woodlands, was established in 1976 when Gillian Lee first started to look after her Grandmother, when she was unable to find alternative suitable residential accommodation for her.

When that proved to be a success Gill, a trained Nurse, decided to take in more Residents. She had an extension built to her home and the rest, as they say is history. Hill Brow was purpose designed and built in 1986.

Alison, her daughter, also trained as a Nurse and holds a degree in Nursing from City University / St Barts Hospital, London with a Diploma in Elderly Care. She left the NHS as Ward Manager of an elderly care unit at The Royal Free Hospital when she assumed control of both homes following her mother’s retirement in 1998.

The family’s commitment for over 40 years, has been to provide the very best care for the elderly, whatever their needs. This has been paramount and has been rewarded by achieving Excellent status in numerous CQC inspections and Environmental Health inspections.

Alison’s family are also involved in the home’s activities so who knows, we may be looking forward to a third generation of the family to lead the way!

In August 2011 Hill House, a new state of the art 56 bedroom Nursing and Dementia home, was opened. Hill House offers the highest level of care with the best facilities in a comfortable home.

In 2018, we are proud to have opened our New Nursing Home Farnham Mill, were we are determined to continue to provide the very best care for the elderly whatever their needs.
