‘Dancing May’ at Woodlands
May has been another very busy month for Residents who have been enjoying lots of activities around the theme “Dancing May”. Residents have been reminiscing about the traditional May Pole Dance, enjoying all the beautiful flowers now appearing in our gardens, and have also enjoyed many trips out. Here are just a few things the Residents have been up to during the month:
On Wednesday 4th May Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Hill House for their monthly session of “Singing for the brain”. Barbara Raynor as always had the Residents singing and moving along to some well-known classics. It was a really enjoyable afternoon finished off with tea and cake.
Residents from Woodlands took a trip into Fleet on Friday 6th May and joined other Residents from Hill House. Residents enjoyed a lovely walk through the Hart Shopping Centre stopping at a few shops on the way round to do a spot of shopping. They finished the morning off perfectly by visiting their favourite cafe for tea and coffee and a slice of cake. It was a really relaxed and enjoyable morning out for all our Residents.
During the afternoon of Wednesday 10th May Residents from Woodlands and Hillbrow enjoyed a trip out to The Princes Hall, Aldershot for a Tea Dance. The Tea Dance is held monthly and Residents were able to listen and dance to a selection of old and new classic tunes. It is a really wonderful afternoon out and a chance for Residents to meet lots of likeminded people from the surrounding communities, as well as see some amazing dancing.
On Friday 13th May Residents from both Woodlands and Hillbrow enjoyed a trip out to Badshot Lea Garden Centre. Residents enjoyed a relaxing stroll around the Garden Centre looking at the many different displays; they especially liked the wonderful array of summer flowers. Residents finished off the morning in the café enjoying a tea and coffee with some rather yummy biscuits.
Friday 20th May was a very busy day for Woodlands Residents, which started in the morning with a trip to their favourite local The Tweseldown Pub. Residents enjoyed a lovely morning in the pub, meeting up with other Residents from our sister homes Hill House and Hillbrow. Residents sat and chatted together over a drink and some crisps, arriving back in time for fish and chips for lunch.
During the afternoon Residents enjoyed a trip up to Hill House for a “May Dance Party”. Residents from all three homes enjoyed being entertained during the afternoon by a lovely lady called Emma Hall who had the most amazing voice. She sang some old well known favourites along with many songs from some very famous musicals. The Residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon singing along to the songs and dancing the afternoon away. The Residents enjoyed Emma’s singing that much they persuaded her to do an encore, it was a wonderful afternoon which was finished off nicely with a lovely cuppa and a piece of cake.
