Woodlands Activities for February
Our Residents have been really busy again this month, they have been taking part in a variety of activities throughout February with the theme “Love and Respect”. The 1st of February was National Dignity Action Day which gives everyone the opportunity to contribute to upholding people’s rights to dignity. Dignity Action Day aims to ensure people who use care services are treated as individuals and are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives. Residents took part in a dignity awareness activity where they chose words that defined dignity to them, words such as “Happy”, “Pride”, and “To Be Valued” we’re just a few, they now wish to display these words as a framed picture for the home. Here are just a few other things our residents have been up to;
Wednesday 4th February Residents enjoyed a trip to Hill House for singing for the brain with Barbara Raynor. Residents really love this as it involves everyone getting together, a bit of gentle exercise, singing and having lots of fun, and of course the tea and cake afterwards is always a bonus!
A trip to the Residents favourite pub The Tweseldown was on Friday 6th February. All three of our homes joined together for a really great morning sat around the log fire for a good chat and plenty of laughter. Residents really enjoy coming together and sharing their stories as well as enjoying a wee tot and a bag of crisps!
Throughout the month Residents have also been busy making valentine decorations and heart shaped desserts, as well as paper daffodils for St David’s Day. They have also enjoyed music and movement, Poetry, skittles, and Reminiscence time with Jane.
Friday 27th February Residents visited Redfields Garden Centre to admire all the new spring flowers, they especially loved the miniature daffodils that came in a wonderful array of containers. Residents enjoyed a leisurely walk around the garden centre looking at the many various different items on display. A visit to the café for a nice cup of tea and a toasted tea-cake finished off the morning perfectly.
