Activities during July at Woodlands
The theme for July was “Around the World”; Residents at Woodlands and Hillbrow have enjoyed many different engaging and varied activities based around travelling and visiting different countries. Each week we celebrated a different country, and sampled an example of that country’s food. Here are just a few things that they have been up to:
On 4th July Residents enjoyed a trip into Fleet to do a spot of shopping. Residents really enjoy visiting Fleet shopping centre; it enables them to maintain a sense of independence and keeps them connected with the community. We finished ur shopping trip by all going for a huge hot chocolate topped with marshmallows and a rather large slice of cake!
Monday the 7th of July was the start of American week. Residents reminisced and shared stories about travelling and about some of the places they have visited. We finished off the week with an American Rock and Roll afternoon Tea Party with lots of dancing.
On July 18th Residents enjoyed a trip to Hill House for a morning of entertaining music. As we had been celebrating the country of Greece during the week, Residents had the chance to sample real authentic Greek music and singing. Residents finished the afternoon with tea and cakes, followed by a themed Supper menu of Greek Inspired food.
On 25th July Woodlands hosted a Charity Quiz Night to raise funds for our Charity “Families Supporting Care”. Residents, their family and friends along with staff from all of our 3 homes attended to battle it out, have fun and raise money. Thank you to all who helped and to those who attended to make the night a huge success, a great night was had by all.
The 28th July started our week celebrating the country of Nepal, during the week Residents decorated cakes for our end of week tea party. After the tea party some of our Nepalese staff performed a fabulous traditional dance wearing their national dress. It really was a wonderful and beautiful performance, which the Residents loved so much; they were asked them to perform it again. Later in the evening Residents also got the chance to try some Nepalese food which they all thoroughly enjoyed. We would like to say a BIG Thank you to all the staff that took part to make the day really special for the residents.
