We have exciting plans to build a new nursing and dementia home  in the grounds next to Hill Brow.

This will be a purpose built home with 35 beds for those requiring all levels of nursing care. Ground floor rooms will be centred around small courtyards with water features, surrounded by purpose built landscaped gardens.

Connected to this, but as a separate facility, will be a 22 bed dementia care home with a day centre for those who are confused and need the comfort of a safe and secure environment.

This will mean that for any of our residents who need special nursing or dementia care, they can make a seamless transfer to our new home where the staff they know, will help them settle in and continue to visit them.

The new home is a thrilling venture for us and we will be starting the build in the September 2009 and due for completion in February 2011.

UPDATE

Having moved the admin office to temporary accommodation, the contractors moved in during the middle of October.  With tree clearance and demolition completed, the bulldozers moved in and now the foundations are taking shape.

On Friday 13th November, Rt Hon James Arbuthnot MP came to visit is and ceremoniously ‘cut the first sod’.  It poured with rain but spirits were not dampened as we gathered outside for photographs.

Once the foundations are complete, we will see the building rise quickly.  The recent bad weather has not helped, but there is a contingency for that.

We are also working closely with the Alzheimer’s Society on the design of the dementia home.  We want it to be a state of the art facility for dementia care, offering both residential and day care as well as providing a training resource for the staff.
